Hakon Sea-Wolf
Hakon was born beneath the weight of another man’s name. His father, Sigurd, ruled Haukafjord. Hakon wanted men to speak of him without first thinking of the jarl whose son he was.
He sailed with the founding crew on the first raid west. In Saint Bega’s northern halls, Hakon faced three royal guards at close quarters. A spear blow shattered his shield. He continued fighting until another thrust brought him down among the fallen.
His companions refused to leave him beneath foreign skies. They carried him back across the North Sea. At the burial mound, Sigurd spoke only a few words, but they granted Hakon the thing he had sought.
“Hakon Sea-Wolf. They will.”
