Ulf Wolfborn

Ulf Wolfborn was a warrior, scout, and older brother. Yrsa remembered him not only for his skill with a bow, but for the patience with which he taught a child who missed every target.

At Saint Bega, Ulf drank an herbal mixture and threw himself back into the fight after Hakon fell. He held the flank beside Leif until both were overcome by the royal guards.

Yrsa laid one of his arrows across his chest at the funeral. She told Ravenfjord how Ulf once blamed a crooked bow for her failures, because a child who blames the bow will try again, while a child who believes she is crooked may not.

“May there always be game in the forests where you are going.”
